Lamisil (terbinafine) is an oral tablet prescribed for the treatment of nail fungus (onychonycosis). Nail fungus occurs when microscopic organisms, dermatophytes, nest under toe nails and finger nails. These fungi are particularly resistant to topical treatment. Toe nail fungus is most common due to dark, warm, and often moist environments where fungi thrive.
